The importance of spreading God's name and Word

Gaining access to the word of truth and a name so powerful as God's is like finding a trove of treasure after searching for so long. A lot of people out there are relentlessly looking out for this treasure but are not fortunate enough to find it, while others do not consider it worth searching for. Countless souls have wearied in the process of trying to lay hands on this priceless treasure. Some are on the wrong path to it and would never find it except they trace their steps back to where they have missed it.

"Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent."

(Revelation 2:5)

It is now our duty to help the lost find his path, and the wearied be reassured of God's love for us. When you find something so authentic, reliable, quickening, comforting and enriching you don't keep it to yourself. You would want to tell the world about it not forgetting your family and friends. The name and word of God are a total package containing all the attributes mentioned above and more. You may say, "It is not necessary to share good things with others. I can always keep to myself and be free." Remember the rich fool who stored up treasure for himself, never considering others? His soul was taken away!

(Luke 12:16-21)

“16: And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:

17: And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?

18: And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.19: And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.

20: But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?

21: So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

The above scripture is an indication that God has not called us to live a selfish life.

It is not a right to have found Him and known His name. It is a privilege to understand His word and know His name! He has called you out of destruction into the light that you may save others. No one comes to the Father except the father himself draws him:

“No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.”

(John 6:44)

He sent His Holy spirit to you that you may bear witness of him to the world:

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

(Acts 1:8)

Sharing God’s Name and word through apparel

In recent times, it is evident that more efforts are being made for sharing and spreading the gospel. However, it has come to our understanding that using more creative channels in spreading God's name and word will help people move from just hearing it, to making it part of their lifestyle. And in light of this, ‘God the Father Apparel’ has innovatively created a clothing line that shares God’s name and word without having to verbally talk to others about it.

Also, through this medium, people will get to showcase God’s word to more people more than they could ever have time to talk to. Likewise, even though Christians are mandated to preach the gospel Mark 16:15, there are still some that feel shy or inexperienced to go all out there. However, with the availability of clothing that does the speaking, they will undoubtedly settle for it.

What is in the word and the name that we should spread?

  • God's word is forever settled. It is yea and Amen. Whenever it is released, it doesn't return until he has fulfilled that purpose which he had been sent to accomplish (Isaiah 55:11).
  • The Word is life; it is so lively that it brought back the dead from the grave! (John 11:43-44). By His word, you have the assurance that nothing dies in you, around and in your hands. Like Ezekiel did to the dry bones, you can also call back to life everything dead around you by speaking God's word.
  • God's word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our paths (Psalms 119: 105). A path full of darkness will only end in a dangerous adventure. God's word is given to us to illuminate our paths in life that we fall not into danger; the danger of temptation, sickness, becoming prey in the hands of the enemy, and so on. His word guarantees our safety in this wicked world of gross darkness.
  • God's word is sharper than any two-edged sword to pierce through the strongest of things:

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

(Hebrews 4:12)

If His word can pierce through the joints and marrows, divide the soul from the spirit, then there is nothing too hard for it to disassemble. God's word is potent enough to heal you of mental illnesses, depression, and pains in the joints and marrows. The word did it in Gadara; delivered a mad man from legion of devils (Mark 5) and also set a woman who had been terribly hunched for 18years free in (Luke 13:11-13).

Spreading the word is also spreading God's name. The degree of honour a name commands lies strongly on how much integrity the words of the bearer of the name carries. No wonder God said he honours his words above his name (Psalms 138:2).

God's name can only be spread by telling people the attributes of God through his word. His word says he loved us so much that he gave his only begotten son to die in our place, that we may have life eternal. Through his word, we get to understand his loving nature and we can boldly say "God is love!"

Spreading God's name and word is literarily spreading the gospel of Christ.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."  (John 1:1)

"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."

(John 1:14)

"Truly, truly, I tell you, “Jesus declared, "before Abraham was born, I am!"

(John 8:58).

Jesus Christ is the word of God and God Himself! So, we can boldly say, Jesus Christ, is a wrap of God's name and word.

A little wonder why he said he that receives me receives the one who has sent me (Matthew 10:40).

Now that we have come to understand God's name and word to be Jesus, what are the importance of spreading his gospel?

The importance of spreading God's name and God's word

It is very crucial to spread God's name and his word because;

  • It is an obligation we must carry out as Christians - Mark 16:15.
  • The harvest is ripe but labourers are few - Matthew 9:37

As famous as the gospel of Christ has become, there are still a great number of people who are yet to gain access to this name and word of truth. In Acts 8:26-40, the Ethiopian eunuch was willing to learn about God but could not understand the word of God when he read until he met Philip. So also, Zaccheus remained a forceful tax collector until he had an encounter with Christ. Do not assume everyone knows God; many are not fortunate enough to know him yet. People are not as Christian as you see them.

  • To bring back the lost - Luke 19:10

There are lots of lost souls out there who need to be brought back into the shepherd's fold. But how can they hear without a preacher at the door?

  • Many have been deceived - 2Corinthians 11:13-15

We need to continually spread God's word and his name because many have been led astray by false doctrines and religions. We are to lead them back to the path of righteousness by sharing with them the truth we have known.

  • To show our love for Him - John 21:17

When Jesus asked Peter if he loved him, his only reply to Peter's response was "if you love me, feed my sheep." Jesus is our Shepherd and we are his sheep. God isn't asking for too much for you to prove your love for him, all he is asking is that you feed his sheep with his word.

Above all, sharing God's word and his name guarantees us access to a life of reign with him. He said,

"For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels."

(Luke 9:26).
